Working from home is more relaxed and more productive when you take these advices seriously.

You can’t go to the office. Your Ted Baker tas stays in the hallway. You just go out with the dog and when you don’t have one, you are even more confined to your home. Your life takes place in and around your house and that is comfortable and complicated at the same time. It makes this quarantine a challenging time.

Therefore a couple of advices that will help you through this situation, while working from home.

-Have a breakfast

After you jumped out of your pajamas (do so!) you feel the urge to start working right from that moment. Don’t! First step is to have a healthy breakfast, drink a cup of coffee and after that you start your working day.

-Make a priority list

Start the day with the most important tasks or the most complicated ones. In the morning you still have a clear mind. Start with the priorities.

-Have lunch (outside)

It’s tempting to work for hours and hours, but take a break every one or two hours. Get up, walk through the garden, have a coffee and so on. If you want to stay focused you have to pause regularly. Also have a good lunch. It is inadvisable to have lunch at your desk. Take the time to refresh yourself. It is even a good idea to grab your rugzak. Put some sandwiches and a bottle of water in it and take a good walk, and have a moment of reflection on a bench in the park. A good opportunity to eat your lunch outside in the fresh air.

-Do some exercise

Maybe you are someone that runs a couple of miles in the morning. That’s great. If you don’t, try to do some exercises during your working day. It clears your mind and it is good for your health.

-Stop on time

Don’t work too many hours a day. What is too many? Not more than on a normal working day. That will exhaust you in the end. Because nobody knows how long this crisis will take en how long you will be working from home, keep your working days structured and stay healthy. Take your Rains backpack at the end of the day and go out. Have a walk, a run or go cycling.
