Technology has made every work effortless and less time-consuming. Industrial jobs are impossible to complete without advanced technology. Today we will talk about industrial robotics which has become the backbone of almost every industry.
So what is robotics and how it is helping to grow a business double or triple times faster?
What is Industrial Robotics
In simple language, Industrial robotics is a computer programmable mechanical device which can do mechanical repetitive work with hundred percent accuracy and high speed. Industrial robots can be programmed according to the specific demand of work. All the work which humans can not do with efficiency and where risk is involved, robots can do with accuracy and precision. Typical applications where robots usually work are welding, painting, ironing, and assembly. Primarily, Industrial robots are the assembly of small parts, cables, guarding, grippers, small servo motors, and electronic components. All these parts make a super machine.
Types of Industrial Robots
Since robots are customized machines and use artificial programming to complete an application, the types of industrial robots depend upon the type of work and demand of an industry. But mainly there are four types of robots which industries mostly use.
- Cartesian Robots
- Gantry Robots
- Human Assist Robots
- Articulated Arm Robots
How Industrial Robots Work
An industrial robot looks like a human arm, and the design is made from five major parts including controller, arm, end effector, drive and sensor. The controller is the brain of a robot which controls other parts of the machine. It is customized with computer programing to do a specific job. Industrial robot arm varies in sizes. The arm in a robot position the end effector in three directions including up and down, left and right, forward and backward.
The end effector is connected to the last end of the arm like our hand. This part actually performs the job by transforming the entire effort of the robot into the job. A drive in the robot is a motor or engine which gives mechanical power to run all five major parts including arm and end effector. Sensors are the eyes and ears of robots which make a working environment for the machine.
