Long working hours
Unlike other professions where people can take long breaks whenever required, developers usually have to work for lengthy hours at a stretch. And if you continuously have to get up to charge your laptop, then this can become highly inefficient for you. So, already having laptops with longer battery lives will ensure that you can work for some duration at a stretch.
That is because for developers, constant focus is a must. Once they lose track of what they were doing, they might have to take very long in getting back on track. So, it is a better option to stay with a laptop with longer life and keep your focus on your work intact.
Not a fixed desk job
Although most workstations give the facility of charging side by side, but in many places you usually don’t get this facility. And if you are a developer, your job is not at all fixed to one workstation. You might need to keep moving from here to there in order to get your work done or get approvals from your managers.
Sometimes, you might also have to work from home in order to get your work done. In those cases, a plug and charger won’t quite help a lot. Hence, longer battery life laptops are needed.
